Where's my motivation here???

I wonder if its just me but everyone I talk to lately seems so unmotivated at work. Perhaps its that time of the year, its over 30 degrees outside everyday and we'd all rather be outside on a patio getting hammered.

Maybe its the total lack of quality management in the people we report to. Managers who don't know how to treat people well, after awhile it becomes a grind for the paycheque.

It could be that as we get older, we see the folly in totally giving our lives over to a job or career. Other things like family, friends and personal wellbeing become more important.

Whatever it is, it will probably be over in about a month. We'll be back to the grind, it will slowly start getting colder. Emails will start flying about second and third quarter targets and possibly missing our year end. Bosses will start "pushing buttons" because we've all been goofing around all summer.

Next thing you know its New Year's Eve and as we sit there at midnight chugging champagne out of the bottle and swear that this year will be different. We're going to start working out, keep more in touch with our friends, read more go on more trips, leave the office earlier....

And voila, Groundhog Day...

Ain't life grand??? :-)
Robot Chicken

OMG this so f'ing funny.

Everclear Father of Mine

One of only a few songs that always make me want to cry...

@#!#$ Car

So, I have a 1997 Honda Accord and for the most part its been a great car. Lots of power good ride. Was thinking this year of buying a new one but decided to wait a bit and get one for next summer, you know, to save some cash.

Well, brilliant frigging idea...over the past week I've done brakes, AC repair, tie rod, ball joint, tires and to top it off I'm the proud owner of a new alternator! $3,500!!!! So, I guess the body of the car is 1997 but it has all 2006 parts. On the plus side, the car drives great. The body is still in great condition, no rust. Guess I'll have to put off buying a new one until next year.

Rarotonga goes satellite...

So, one of the gifts at this golf tournament was XM satellite radio with 3 months of programming included.

Pretty awesome, but dare I say it, TOO much content....I know, in a world where everyone wants more I'm being a contrarian. There are too many stations rock, pop, hits, dance, 80's, 90's. One of my favourites is the comedy channel. Heard a good joke...

"I'm meeting my friend later, he's half Japanese and half Native Canadian his name is Nissan Pathfinder."

We'll see after three months, dunno if its worth the cost. Come to think of it, I don't really know what it costs.

With jokes like this, I'm bound to be a hit.

Should...

have uploaded pictures from golf tournament last night but ended up sitting in the backyard drinking....

maybe tonight...

On the 8th hole. Beautiful girls at every hole. Lots of drinks. Updating my blog via wireless.

Hmmm....

I can't really think of anything to post today.

Things that matter...

1. Great Food
2. Great Wine
3. Great Weather
4. Great Company
5. Great Sleep

Great Weekend, hope yours was too...

On another note....I have some wonderful kids. I'm not saying that they're better than other people's kids. Just that they're amazing and I love them more than anything. My relationship with them grows and evolves every day.

G'night!

Sleep

I've slept 22 hours of the past 36... hmmm, I think its time for another nap.

Tired

Wow slept 12 hours last night. Needed that. Its raining today. Made the kids pasta with shrimp in butter sauce. Think its time for a nap.

That is all.

Things that REALLY end relationships...

You know its not war, politics, religion or money that causes relationships to disintegrate. Its the important things like putting the toilet paper roll on upside down. My god, everyone knows that toilet paper should roll from the top.

Toothpaste needs to be squeezed from the bottom not the middle. How the hell am I expected to have sex with you when you squeeze the toothpaste from the middle. What, were you born in the forest, raised by chimps?

I also need Heinz Ketchup (not that no name shit), real butter (margarine is made of plastic), and real mayonnaise (not Miracle Whip).

Thanks to M for the material for this post :)

Multitude of thoughts today..

1. WTF is up with this war. Everytime I look at the paper I see pictures of people screaming and crying. I guess we won't be happy until we all kill each other.

2. Maybe its because its summer but there are lots of poor people around. Just hanging around. Poor, junkies, alcoholics etc...you know. I have a friend who is sort of like this. Not homeless but has a drug dependency. I think about where I am and where he is and if you were to go back in time and see us both when we were 10 yrs old again (we've been friends since then) we would be identical. Its amazing how life paths diverge.

3. I was at the BMW dealership and I 'm thinking of buying one but feel guilty when I see the poor people.

4. I don't mind eating chicken that's not free range. I don't really care how much hormones are in the beef. I'm ok with GMO vegetables.

5. I really like beer but need to stop drinking for awhile and work out 'cuz my gut is huge again.

6. Oh still hate that people don't know how to fucking drive.

I should have mentioned

in the last post that the headliner at the outdoor party we went to last week was Blue Rodeo. The surprise guest was Roger Hodgson of Supertramp. Needless to say, this is all I've been listening to for the last few days.

Oh my head, I don't think I should have stayed up 'till 2:30 am drinking Chardonnay :(

Great Lyrics

I want to know where my confidence went; One day it all disappeared; And I'm lying in a hotel room miles away; Voices next door in my ear; Daytime's a drag, Nighttime worse; Hope that I can get home soon; But the half-finished bottles of inspiration Lie like ghosts in my room;

I want to go, I know I can't stay; But I don't want to run; Feeling this way,

Til I am myself...

There's a seat on the corner I keep every night; Wait til the evening begins; I feel like a stranger from another world; But at least I'm living again; There are nights full of anger; Words that are thrown; Tempers that are shattered and thin; And the moments of magic Are just too short; They're over before they begin;

I know it's time, One big step; I can't go, I'm not ready yet;

Til I am myself...

I had a dream that my house was on fire; People laughed while it burned; I tried to run but my legs were numb; I had to wait til the feeling returned; I don't need a doctor to figure it out I know what's passing me by; When I look in the mirror; Sometimes I see traces of some other guy

I want to go, I know I can't stay; But I don't want to run feeling this way;

Til I am myself; Til I am myself; Til I am myself again

Travel Bug

I think I'm getting the travel bug. Want to go somewhere amazing.

Top two places are as follows...

1. Bora Bora

Need I say more?

2. Ibiza

Off the coast of Spain, in case you're wondering.

My last most amazing trip was Fiji. Can't believe its been over 2 years. Here's where I stayed.

Let's be friends...

How is it that people say that they want to be friends but what they really want is for YOU to be THEIR friend.

Goose

Last year....3 bottles consumed in the hotel room for the 5 days.

This year...5 bottles in the same time frame.

I would post a picture but as mentioned before Destructo smashed my fucking phone into millions of little pieces and all the pictures are gone. Good thing I'm over it and not bitter anymore. I know what I should have done with the empty bottles.

I'm all in...

Another of the memorable lines from the trip....

Destructo said something along the lines of .... "Smoocher is going to fuck this up...he's all in." Anyways it stuck, the whole week.

"I'm all in."

I've made my choice.

Best line of the trip...

Taken from the Simpsons. Homer is staring at some woman breasts. She says, my eyes are up here.

He says, " I've made my choice."

What's your Superhero power?

Well, when drunk guys get together in a hotel room for 5 days straight they talk about shit. One such discussion centered around about superheroes. We all gave superhero names to each other with superhero powers.

As I will be referring to everyone from here on in by their superhero names I thought I'd better start with that.

The first and most shockingly dangerous of all of the superheroes was....

estructo. Aptly named because he broke everything. Really, from juggling beer bottles in the room (which, BTW, didn't end well), to hurling my cell phone against a brick wall (ended worse). Don't really remember how many glasses he broke. An the furniture...omfg, that poor coffee table!

Secondly there was the...

Sleeper. Named of course because of his ability not only to sleep through anything but being able to sleep at will.

Rarotonga: "Ok guys we need to go out in half an hour."

Sleeper: "Ah guys, just need to shut my eyes quickly."

Actual conversation. He actually slept for 30 minutes to the second. Oh, and don't try sitting on the Sleeper while he is slumbering and prying his eyes open, it doesn't work. Just theorizing ofcourse.

The sleeper's favourite move? You guessed it, The Dolphin. That's with both arms at his side falling face down into the bed and being asleep before his body hit.

Then came....

The Pacifier. The ability not only to control every situation and bring it back to sensibility, but the only one who had power over Distructo. When for example we were in a bar and Distructo mistook this 6' 5' dude who was about 260 lbs of pure muscle for me (seriously). He proceeded to cross check him as hard as he could in the back. (Total 5 minute major and a game misconduct.) It was the Pacifier who stepped in and brought the situation under control and prevented the Missing Link from separating Destructo's DNA. When we all got into a big fight one night which ended in the aforementioned phone smashing incident, it was the Pacifier that brought us all back together. Sanity Rules!

Finally me, I received the name....

The "Smoocher." Apparently I spent the entire trip with my lips attached to girls necks. My superhero power is being able to scale a wall using my lips as a suction cup. I will admit that I'm fairly irresistible when I'm drunk but I swear those girls were hitting on me.

Crazy...

Where to start?????

Returned from Ctown. What a gong show. So much to post. So little time. No time for full sentences or correct grammar.

So here goes....

OK kids, don't get scared now...

Rarotonga is off to Calgary tomorrow for Stampede. Year number two for the trip, like last year didn't take time off the end of my life.....OMG the carnage...

Things I learned on the internet...

The internet, hailed as the most powerful invention since that dude dropped his chocolate bar into his peanut butter.

It has the power to teach, communicate, change lives and even influence civilizations.

Here's what I learned today...

BBQ

Mmmmm...great BBQ tonight...

1. Rosemary rotisserie chicken.
2. Veal Tenderloin
3. Penne Pesto with my home grown basil.
4. Caprese salad.

The wine was outstanding.

I was at the liquor store the other day and was talking to the wine dude. He mentioned that he had just received some of the following...

J.LOHR ‘SEVEN OAKS’CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2003 Paso Robles 656561 (XD) 750 mL $ 19.95
Paso Robles is a rapidly rising star in the California wine scene. J. Lohr’s winemaker Jeff Meier blends in a bit of Petite Sirah, Syrah, Petit Verdot, Carignan and Merlot to this Cabernet Sauvignon dominated wine to create a richly black, fruity wine with tones of dark chocolate, tobacco, vanilla and spice. Enjoy this structured, flavourful wine with grilled steaks

It was wine of the month and didn't go on sale until the next day and he figured it would be sold out in the first hour. Offered to sell me some...
I ended up buying 6 bottles, boy, do I wish I had bought more. What an amazing bottle of wine. We ended up having 2 bottles today. Yikes, only 4 left!!!

Mmmm...totally full...

You know....

I honestly thought life would turn out to be more than what it is today. I'm sure there are people out there who will say that I'm not living it to the fullest or whatever but that's just a BS answer, adds no value and is of no help.

I'm not saying that life is necessarily bad, I have a great life. Its just that it is so mundane. I just thought it would be more....

Is it really worth it?

Ok, so while I'm at dinner with boss, Mange Cake (MC) calls me. I couldn't answer the phone and saw she left a message. I leave the restaurant I was having dinner in and checked voicemail. MC says that she's at the Madison and that if I'm in the area I should drop by. I decided to go for a beer and say hello.

Anyhoo, as it turns out she was a little hammered and was a total fucking bitch the whole time. I didn't know it could take so long to finish a beer...and I'm not that slow a drinker!!!

This is not the pont of this post however, it turns out, that her roommate, who I hadn't met before was there.

OMFG....what a hottie. Great body and a personality even better. It actually made the visit worthwhile. (It also turns out she's friends with "Jay Z" from Trailer Park Boys, who I met also, cool guy, very unassuming...but I digress...)

Sure I had a great time talking to her (MC's roommate) and would like to see her again but beautiful girls are a dime a dozen, always one around the corner. Sure, its hard to find one who's not a fucking psycho or retard and nice to actually speak with one who is funny and intelligent but WTF, life goes on!

So be it...Rarotonga is turning a corner...hopefully not into oncoming traffic!!!

Ok peeps...

I know I haven't posted in a couple of days but things have been hectic. Construction seems to be running the show and I've been moving and terminating people all over the place. All fingers are now pointed at leasing for holding up the project, not because I'm doing so, IMO, but because fingers must always be pointed somewhere.

I was so stressed today I couldn't even sit still. Was thinking about canceling my Calgary trip and got into an argument with my boss. Hopefully Calgary is still on and had dinner with boss tonight and all is ok.

I must try to be less stressed and let things roll off my shoulder more. Takes alot of work.

There is so much...

I want to rant about, but alas I'm just too tired. Was in meetings from 9 am until 5:30 pm today and am too tired and discouraged to even talk about anything. Maybe tomorrow is better and I will have the urge to put some of these thoughts down on paper. Who knew there'd be so much to talk about.

World Cup of Soccer

Or Football as the rest of the world calls it. I'm glad that this comes around only every 4 years because in the mean time I forget what a loser sport this is.

Players are big giant sissies who fall down and cry like preschoolers everytime you get near them. The ref's obviously are not getting any at home so they take their frustrations out on the players to show "who's the boss." Frigging yellow and red cards everywhere.

I mean, is this sport so popular because its good or because the rest of the world is either frigging starving dodging bullets from some war that this is all they have.

Just give me a toothless hockey player that will take a puck in the face and get up and shake it off and keep on playing. Even NFL guys will take a pounding and just get up and keep playing.

At least only 4 more games to go. Instead of MVP of course they should give out Oscars for the biggest actors.

Bah...

I'm curious

as to why people want to save the world. I'm not saying its not a noble task, its just that I think the world doesn't want to be saved. People do not want to be told that they have to change their habits/lifestyle to save the environment. Companies don't want to hear that there are more important things than profit.

I know many of you believe strongly in being able to change the world but so far the last guy that tried got nailed to a cross.

Just my opinion.

Canada Day

Its Canada Day today. Time to drink beer, go to annoying family BBQ, drink more beer, get wife mad at you for drinking so much beer, start drinking vodka...and finally take the kids to see the fireworks.

Actually enjoying the long weekend. Hope you all are too.
